A Much Needed Update

It's been far too long since I've made a post.  This new job takes up most of my time.... cause you know, it's a full time job.  I hate the job, but it pays pretty nice like.

So I hate snow.  that snow storm Nemo we had:  Can.  Not.  Deal.  Snow is one of the many reasons I:
a) want to live in an apartment, and
b) want to live in southern California.
Snow's great when you're a kid, but once you have to dig out your car to get to work at 6am it's no longer fun.
There's been progress on the whale.  I'm now at a point where I have to change colors and meet the two colors to blend them.  I don't want a harsh separation between the tones, from medium to dark, it needs to have a nice smooth transition.  These transitions drive me nuts, I did this with the buttons for the background and it took me hours just to pick and choose the right colors and tones and even then I am limited by the supplies themselves.  I started work on a new pair of horns, this time a set of rams horns.  Those were a bitch to flat pattern because they spiral up and out.  I got the left horn structure completed, now I just need to finish the right one.
Wicked fair was this past weekend!!  Woot!  I made a paper mache and cardboard top hat... and then didn't bother to wear it.  It was kinda silly looking and it didn't fit well.  It was very last minute and I'm not broken up over it.  Lets face it though, it's cheaper than buying a nice one and I get to paint it in whatever colors I want.  Marina had her kimono panel which, despite the small attendance, was super fun.  Except for the shoes.  Oh my god those shoes were pretty but so very painful.  So this happened:
Photo taken by Kassandra Leigh <3
I love the photo taken of us in Marina's kimono.  The photographer is Kassandra Leigh, she's this little pixie of a girl who shows up in a Latex mini dress with a short fur cape and knee high socks.  She's drop dead gorgeous.  It was like 29 degrees F outside and windy as fuck while she's taking photos and I'm just trying to keep the kimono closed (I'm on the left).  We were on this wooden pier thing that went out into the pond outside the hotel, and Marina hops up onto the railing and we are praying she doesn't loose her balance and fall into the freezing cold pond.  Apparently there were people watching us through the windows of the hotel and were hoping she didn't fall into the water too.  As we were walking back to the room, we were walking single file and kinda shuffling,
and it reminded me of the Mikado by Gillbert and Sullivan.
Yeah, kinda like that but without the outdated gender and cultural stereotypes.  I was singing this in my head the whole time!  I think this, and the swap meet on Sunday were the highlights of my weekend.  Other than that I felt mostly bored at Wicked fair.  It was difficult to navigate and there was no map.  The vendors were all over the place, there was no Dungeon set-up this year, I missed all of the performances cause I either didn't know where they were or missed the time slot.
So I swear photos will get posted of art eventually, but the cord and the battery charger for my camera have disappeared.  Again.  Once those are found I have a whole lot of photos to upload.
That's it for now.
See Ya'll Later!

Never Thought I'd Use Sexy and Squid in the Same Post

O man guys.  This weekend.  Crazy.

To begin with: Dorian's Parlor: The Promised Picture.  So I have a total of 2 photos from Dorian's Parlor.  I was busy having fun so sorry guys.  But I do have a photo of the ever lovely Jillian:
Va.  Va.  Voom.
We forced her into a corset by Mayfaire Moon Corsets and god damn the girl is tiny.  Jillian looked really great the entire night and with Neil and Jillian's friend (whose name I have forgotten (sorry)) accompanying us, we had a great time.

Then there was AnimeNext on Friday.  I helped out Dory with running her table.  She had a ridiculously small space, only 3 feet of table and tons of stock.  These kids are crazy.  I don't remember being that hyper and jumpy when I was 16 years old.  I got my swag though.  I collect pins/ buttons, so every convention I go to I try to grab A) as much free stuff as I can and B) pick up some great pins with awesome art or characters I like.  My favorite from AnimeNext would be from Etsy seller ZombieRomance.  She had some really great art work, pins and earrings.  I love the earrings I picked up from her.  She was super nice too, while we were getting ready to leave for the day and packing up I suddenly remembered I wanted to grab a pair of earrings from her, and she pulled out her earring stand to let me pick out what I wanted.  I picked these:

Squid!!  They Dance the Dance of Life!
I love these earrings. I wanna wear them to work tomorrow. The girls at work already think I'm out of my freaking mind, so why not squid myself out and make it official?  After leaving the convention, we went back to Dory's place and helped her get ready for the next day.  Dory's got some amazing bows at the conventions, I wish she'd update her website more often so everyone could see the awesomeness!!

Then today was an adventure into the bowels of P.A.  I met up with some crew members from The Red Horizon / Phoenix Airship group.  We went out to the Quaker flea market, which was surprisingly small.  We got there after 9am and there was a forecast of rain so most sellers either didn't show up or were packing up early.  I found some great swag despite the lack of turn out, I'll post some pictures when I get the pieces cleaned off and/or repaired.  I wish I could make some sort of a living off of hunting flea markets.  I find some really great stuff that most people pass by.  I totally found a brass spyglass that the other 3 people I was with passed by.  Shiny things catch my eye and distract me.

Alert!!  Strongly Suggested For the Ladies only! -->
So as most people can tell you, I'm a fan of DC/Marvel comics and movies.  And as these same people can tell you, I'm a big Loki fan.  Tom Hiddleston is my Hollywood Heart Throb now.  So sexy.  So to feed this never-going-to-go-anywhere crush, someone on facebook sent me this video... well more like an audio clip.

Now just close your eyes and listen to the sound of his voice and I dare you to tell me this isn't Sexy.  As.  Hell.

So I think that's about it for now, there will be project update posts soon I swear.  I just want to get a few things done first before I sit down and write out an in-depth post... with pictures.  I have been documenting these projects closely so fear not those of you who are too lazy to read.

See Ya'll Later!

I'm So Tired, I Haven't Slept a Wink.

Well this is an update that's been put off for far too long.  It's been super busy on my end.  I was getting hours from the temp agency, was helping Dory prep for Castle Con which was earlier today, and I was attempting to finish a cable tie piece for a juried exhibition.  Well I've got the piece started, but I read more into the competition and found out it's an online only exhibition.  They issue an e-magazine to their subscribers with whatever digital photos you provide.  It's so not worth the $35 entry fee.  So I just busted my ass for nothing really.  On the upside, there's another exhibition that I will be applying to, THE 10TH A.I.R. GALLERY BIENNIAL A Juried Exhibition Open to All Women Artists.  Open to all mediums and has a real gallery as opposed to a virtual one.  What a novel concept.  Hmmm, what else has been happening... well I warped my loom.  Meaning I strung up my loom and am now weaving on it, the materials were starting to bust out of the jar I keep them in, so time to start a weaving.  Oh and I am now indebted to Leyna for giving me a copy of some website editing software.  I can now update my website!!  I'm also indebted to Steph for fixing the coding problems on the 'contacts' page.  It now works!
The Whale is still coming along at its slower-than-molasses pace, but I have faith that it will look amazing in the end.... or at least look like a whale.  Unfortunately I have not been taking photos recently due to laziness.  After all I've been doing this week I think I'm entitled to be a little lazy with the photos.  Watched some TED Talk videos again, since there's not much else I enjoy watching on the internet.  Be glad I don't post cat videos.  Anyway one of the talks was this one:

Ayah Bdeir talks about building circuitry and making it as easy as snapping Legos together.  She started a website called Little Bits, an open source and storefront website where the parts she uses in the video are available.  This got me thinking about a lot of projects that I couldn't accomplish due to lack of knowledge of electronics and wiring.  I think these things are brilliant.

Well on a far creepier note I saw this video in a yahoo news article.  This girl is so incredibly doll-like it's frightening.  And the fan base is typical for the "cute, not legal, and trying to be Japanese, please-give-me-attention." genre.  You know, those creeper guys at anime conventions who ask for you picture and try their hardest to upskirt you in the pose, yeah, that kind of fan base.  What I find difficult to swallow is that the mother of this kid encourages it. There's just so much wrong with that.  I mean seriously, a mother is supposed to protect and raise their child right?  Just read the article and try to watch the video ( I got about 20 seconds in before I couldn't take it anymore.  Bad Harajuku accents need not apply.)

And Just because I can, Cat Videos.
